As a form of commitment to environmental sustainability and community empowerment, PT ORIX Indonesia Finance (ORIF) has successfully carried out a Beach Cleaning activity programs on the coast of KSS Sukawali Beach, Sukawali Village, Tangerang Regency, Banten on Thursday, 12 December 2024. Carrying the theme ‘Care for the Beach, Care for the Earth! Small Actions, Big Waves of Change’, this activity aims to clean up the beach area from plastic waste and other waste that can damage marine and coastal ecosystems.

The Beach Cleaning activity was in collaboration with the environmental organisation ‘LindungiHutan’ and the organisation ‘Kertabumi Recycling Center’ which focuses on environmental conservation.

More than 35 volunteers from ORIF employees, including Mr Causa Iman Karana as Vice President Director of ORIF participated in this activity, working together to collect and sort waste to ensure the cleaning & recycling process can run effectively. From this beach cleaning activity, 430-kilograms of waste was collected, which is equivalent to 1,465 KgCO2e. All the waste that has been collected is then used as an alternative to Wave Breaking Equipment for the surrounding community.

In addition to the beach cleaning activity, the company also organised a Waste Management socialization for the coastal community of Sukawali Village. This training was attended by 30 local residents and aimed to raise awareness of the importance of good waste management and provide practical solutions in handling household waste.

This programme is expected to be the first step in creating a cleaner and healthier environment in the coastal area of Sukawali Village. This activity ended with a joint commitment to maintain beach cleanliness in a sustainable manner. With the collaboration between the company and the community, it is hoped that a clean and healthy coastal environment can be maintained.
